The Reiki Hand Positions

These Drawings are some I drew with Paint shop pro and a trackball there are drawings from "Essential Reiki" by Diane Stein for morestandard drawings

I personly always start with my hands over the top of the head on the crown first most people are more comfortable with this as the first position and children are less likely to lick your hands if you start them off with a less challenging placement than directly over the face.

the hands are traditionly held with the thumb and finger next to each other as though they were in socks

. For the hand positions shown as 1. to 4. the healer stands behind , positions 5 to 9 are done from the side the hands are placed with the fingertips of one hand touching the heal of the other as for whether the left or right hand is the near hand or the far hand that depends on what is most comfortable for you .I did not draw any leg and foot positions these hand positions are sugestions rather than absolutes repeat the same positions on the back . I like to run reiki into the joints, shoulders, elbows , wrists, knees, and hips, and the hands also. Intuition is the best guide. Reiki touch is very light no pressure is applied. the energies often run for about 3 to 5 minutes in each position when you are starting out and get faster over time.

this chart has dots on common hand placement locations
